Ansgar Killing

Each summer of Ansgar's childhood, his family spent their vacation in the Black Forest. This is where it all began: On one of the frequent hikes, the family visited the Feldberg Chapel. Ansgar was fascinated and drew the floor plan in his diary (..not entirely to scale), only to forget all about architecture shortly thereafter.

 Many years later, after dropping the idea to become a high school teacher, Ansgar rediscovered his desire to design and build. He earned the carpenter journeyman certificate, finished architecture school in Germany and attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for his graduate degree. He returned to Germany to become a licensed architect and joined K+H Architekten in Stuttgart as principal.

 In 2007, he returned with his family to the Central Coast to teach design at Cal Poly. Today, Ansgar is leading RNT's San Luis Obispo office. Next on the bucket list: Learn to surf.
